Oedipus in Sophocles' tragedy Oedipus Rex is a villain for the following reason: Oedipus judges others, Oedipus is full of arrogance, and Oedipus is a murderer.
Sophocles portrays Oedipus as a villain by showing how Oedipus judges others. For example, "Rage? Why not! And I'll tell you what I think: You planned it, you had it done, you all but killed him with your own hands: if you had eyes, I'd say the crime was yours, and yours alone" (1244).
